I'm Back, the World's Ending

First off, I know I've been away from this blog for far too long. The short explanation is that I got a new job and was very busy for a few months. Who knows if I'll have much time to blog even now, but I felt like posting, so here goes nothing.

Since I've been gone the presidential primary season has passed, apocalyptic doom has hung over our heads, the economy has fallen sharply, American corporatism has grown more blatant, gas is raping our wallets, Bush and congress continue to fail miserably, articles of impeachment have been read in the House against Bush, George Carlin died, Tim Russert died, Bill O'Reilly still lives, fist jabs have terrorized the country, and Jesus returned with his raptor horde to cleanse the world. There's more, but my brain has subconciously supressed it so that I don't get an anerysm or throw my computer through the window.

Thank god the primary season is over. Now we can finally focus on the real issues, such as terrorist fist jabs and whose wife is hotter (or which one is the trollopy cunt for that matter). Then Obama commited the cardnal sin of voting for the new and improved FISA bill and enraged the Internet. Despite this, Obama is still many orders of magnitude greater than dasteredly McCain. If you're somehow still an idealist in this country of apathitic pessimism, you could always vote for someone like Bob Barr.

On the side of the economy, we are all doomed. With talks within the government and Federal Reserve of eating up the biggest mortage companies in the country, we are certainly headed in a downward spiral of economic ruin and corporate facism (I can't really decide if it's facism or just complete incompetance, not that they are mutually exclusive). High oil prices aren't helping either, but at least we are seeing a downard trend vehicle use for personal transporation. But, since our economy has such integral links with oil, such news is not much solace.

Kucinich finally read the articles of impeachment against Bush in the House of Representatives, not that the media really covered it at all. I always thought that offically bringing up impeachment in Congress was an important matter, but I could just be niaive.

George Carlin's death was really too bad. He was a great comedian and spoke a lot of truth through his standup work. Thanks for all the laughs.

Obama Fights Immaturity with Maturity

The media and the Blogosphere (I've always hated that term. Why not something more interesting, such as the Hyperblogocube?) have already circulated the hell out of Obama's interesting speech. I don't think the media can do it justice though and America needs to see it for themselves. I've been dying to see a candidate that takes a realistic and mature approach to politics and Barack seems to be the guy to do it. When a few seconds of Obama's pastor talking down to (although, truthfully) America circulated through the media in the normal and immature fashion, it was the continuing norm. But, Barack Obama fought back with a speech that talked plainly and properly to the people of America. I only hope Americans take in the brevity of such an event.

Here's the full speech if you haven't already seen it:

Tracey Morgan's Elegant Retort

Tracey Morgan had a great segment on SNL's Weekend Update this past Saturday in which he made an elegant retort to Tina Fay's previous statements about Hillary Clinton.

Here's Tina's bit from about three weeks ago, encase you missed it:

Holy Hell, There's an Election Going On

So, I've been away from blogging for more than three months and in that time a lot of proverbial shit has hit the fan. Apparently, there's some sort of presidential election going on in which an old man, his sister, and Tiger Woods all want to be president.

I honestly thought this election was going to go a bit differently. Hillary Clinton surprised me by falling flat on her ass while Barack "Hussein The Secret Muslim Terrorist" Obama sped ahead through Super Tuesday and beyond. I may have been too cynical, but I thought Hillary would dominate the Democratic party simply because of the power her family wields inside it, but the people surprised me.

I was disappointed that Denis Kucinich did get any real support, as he was one of my favorite candidates on a lot of issues. I was also disappointed that Ron Paul didn't do better, since he was the only real conservative and would have made one hell of a Republican candidate. Unfortunately, John "Let's Perpetually Be At War" McCain gets that honor.

Now I just wish the Democrats would settle on their nominee or at least be more civil in their fight for power. Of course, I'm talking mainly about Hillary, because, lets face it, she's an ass. Perhaps, that's why she would represent the Deomcrats best, but she is only hurting the party with her dirty politics. Of course, I'm a mysoginist for even saying something bad about her. But, she of course has the most experience, right? Right?! Well, she does have the abilities of a secretary. She can answer a phone at three in the morning, which Barack clearly doesn't have because he's too young and inexperienced, or so the legend goes. But, more importantly, Hillary is an ass because she's finally shown her true colors and will do anything for more power. If she had more tact, she would simply fight a fair fight and let the people decide.

With everything I've said about Clinton, I'm still not endorsing Obama (not that anyone really cares who I endorse). Obama is charismatic and seems like he would make a great statesman. He knows how to be dimplomatic and doesn't seem to resort to the desperate tactics that Clinton (although, he hasn't had any reason to yet). There's nothing I can really say about the guy that is distasteful. I think out of the remaining candidates, he would make the best president and will most likely vote for him come the general election. I definately will not be voting for McCain and I would vote third-party before I voted for Hillary, so Obama is my de facto candidate.

I know this election is only going to get worse from this point on and I'm really not looking forward to it. But don't you worry. I'll be here to bitch and moan about it all and hopefully I won't have to take another three month break during such a wonderful period of our history.

Where's the Posts?

Well, I meant to write something about the primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire, but I've been busy with the holidays and dealing with a sick family member. For now I'm trying to focus on keeping myself in my postbac physics program while keeping in touch with family. Thanks for the readership and hopefully I'll be back on top of my game soon.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all! Here's to a (hopefully) better year than those past. Lets vote some people with integrity into the government this year and end all wars. Remember, war can end if we all want it to.

On a lighter note, I hope everyone had good holidays with their families and loved ones.
